Fire points
BRD has carried out multiple activities to assist vulnerable displaced people in northern Syria, including those of the CCCM. The fire station activity was one of the most important activities carried out by BRD to enhance the security and safety of the displaced, protect them from the dangers of fire and save their lives in critical moments.
The activity included the installation of 129 firefighting points and their distribution near the tents of the displaced, where the points were distributed to 9 camps in Harem – Idlib. Each point includes a fire extinguisher and a metal box with a lock so that the extinguishers are only accessible by people who have been selected and trained by BRD.
The population distribution in the camps was taken into consideration, the optimal sites were selected, and the extinguishers were inspected and ensured that they were ready to be used when needed.
BRD team in Syria worked on creating a map to show the whereabouts of the extinguishers, and it was classified according to the order and the name of the camp. This map was installed at the entrances to the targeted camps to achieve the best possible organization of the service.
Awareness brochures were also printed to reduce fire hazards, in addition to brochures explaining the steps of using extinguishers, as brochures were installed at the entrances to the camps and next to the extinguishers.
